IL N'Y AVAIT PAS DE PLACE POUR EUX

Cette semaine, j’ai rendu visite à une famille de refugiés que j’avais perdu de vue depuis 3 ans. J’ai croisé la mère par hasard dans la rue, et elle m’a amenée voir où ils vivaient désormais. Quelques planches en guise de mur, des bouts de tôles pour toiture, le tout installé provisoirement sur un terrain rocailleux, dans un bidonville marécageux. Elle m’a raconté comment ils en sont arrivés là, chassés de maison en maison, notamment pour le loyer impayé. Elle m’a confié son ultime espoir, celui de voir sa famille sélectionnée par le HCR pour être envoyée en Occident, car depuis des années qu’ils ont trouvé refuge au Cameroun, il n’y a pas vraiment de place pour eux dans la société. 

Covid Test - Faith Test

On October 10, I tested positive for Covid-19. Thank God, it was not the most serious form. I was only bedridden for a week. The following week, I was recovering, and the third week, I went to take the test again to confirm my recovery and continue some upcoming projects: my exam to be a certified French teacher, and my participation in the comic book festival where I wanted to represent Christian comics. But things didn't turn out the way I planned.

The control test having revealed the presence of the virus, I had to extend the quarantine. I was a little upset but thought God was giving me time to write. So, I wrote down some ideas. 

Test Covid – Test de la foi

 

Le 10 octobre dernier, j'ai été testée positive à la Covid-19. Dieu merci, pas la forme la plus grave. Je ne suis resté alitée qu'une semaine. La semaine suivante, j'étais en convalescence, et la troisième semaine, je suis allée refaire le test pour confirmer ma guérison et poursuivre mes projets imminents : mon examen pour être professeur de français, et ma participation au festival de BD où je souhaitais représenter la BD chrétienne. Mais les choses ne se sont pas passées comme je l'imaginais.

Le test de contrôle ayant révélé la présence du virus, j'ai dû prolonger la quarantaine. J'étais un peu contrariée mais j'ai pensé que Dieu m'accordait ainsi du temps pour écrire. J'ai donc noté quelques idées d'articles.

Une dizaine de jours plus tard, deuxième test de contrôle. Encore positif.

CUI BONO

 

“To whom is it a benefit?” This is what “cui bono” means, a Latin phrase used to indicate that crimes are often committed to benefit their perpetrators. The party responsible and/or profiting from that crime is not what it appears to be at first glance. If you're a fan of detective movies and novels like me, you'll know that the question: "Who profits from the crime?" often allows investigators to find the real culprit in a criminal case. Who would have thought that I would need to ask myself that question in the peaceful setting of a church program?

CUI BONO

« À qui profite-t-il? » C'est la traduction de la locution latine « cui bono », souvent utilisée pour suggérer un motif caché ou pour indiquer que la partie responsable de quelque chose n'est pas ce qu'elle paraît être à première vue. Si vous êtes un fan des films et romans policiers comme moi, vous savez que la question: « à qui profite le crime? », permet souvent aux enquêteurs de trouver le vrai coupable dans une affaire criminelle, car les personnes qui ont quelque chose à gagner ne sont pas toujours évidentes. Qui eût cru que j'aurais besoin de me poser cette question dans le cadre paisible de la lecture de la Bible en 5 jours? 

Avant de vous raconter ce qui s'est passé, j'aimerais vous rappeler une histoire bien connue.

A time - and a notebook - for everything

When I see supermarket shelves filling up with school supplies, as the start of the school year approaches, I feel compassion for the parents. I remember how my sisters and I would bring back from school the list of requested notebooks, with the requirements of each teacher: “The science teacher said he wants a 400-page for class, another of 300 pages for the exercises, and another for the tests.” Multiply this by the number of courses in the program (about ten), then by the number of children in school (5 for my parents), and you will understand the puzzle that this can represent for each parent. But they dedicate themselves, hoping that these notebooks will be put to good use.
